Still many fish to see!

Many people have taken the opportunity to visit the fish ladder since we opened it to the public on June 2. The alewives have been thick and the show—complete with eagles and Osprey and occasional herons—continues. That said, we expect to see the run slow down in the coming week. The signs are there….many of the fish coming in are smaller and the press of fish has slowed. In addition, many fish are coming back down after spawning in Damariscotta Lake. Most come down late in the afternoon and early in the early evening  through the Middle Stream.
A reminder—we are visitors to practice social distancing (we have marked the railing at 6 foot intervals) and please, please, please wear masks. The pathways are narrow and it is nearly impossible in places to stand 6 feet apart.
