So many alewives! And volunteers at the fish ladder!

It’s a lovely Sunday to visit the fish ladder…..and if you want to see lots and lots of alewives, you won’t be disappointed! It’s also a good day to buy a t-shirt or two in the latest design, a colorful fish ladder hat, or a chance to win one of the great fish art pieces.  Volunteers will be at the fish house today selling fish ladder goods and gear and answering questions. You may also see seagulls swallowing alewives whole. That’s right! A gull catches a fish, pivots the fish so its heading head-first into its (the gulls) mouth, and swallows that wiggling fish whole! I’d rather they left the fish to climb the fish ladder and spawn….but it is interesting to watch the gull show!
