Quilt Raffle – Damariscotta Mills 1857
The “Draw” for the Fish Ladder Restoration Raffle Quilt is just around the corner: it takes place on Tuesday Sept 1 at 11am at the Fish House, Bayview Rd, Nobleboro, ME 04555. Everyone is welcome.
Tickets are on sale at Skidompha Library in Damariscotta, where the quilt is on display, until closing time on Friday August 28. If you live out of town and you want to buy a ticket see https://damariscottamills.org/ or contact David Brydges at 207-832-1790.
The quilt was made and donated by Betty Lu Brydges. It faithfully follows an 1857 map showing the buildings at that time and indicating water depth in the Fish Ladder, Damariscotta Lake and the Great Salt Bay by contours.
The Damariscotta Mills Fish Ladder Restoration Project is a nonprofit community-based effort in collaboration with the Towns of Nobleboro and Newcastle to rebuild and maintain the historic 1,500-foot stone fish ladder. All proceeds from the Raffle Quilt support this mission.
